Watsontown Police Toy Drive

Since the 1950's, The Watsontown Police Department has been operating a Christmas program which provides presents to needy children in the Warrior Run School District.  Presents typically include clothing and toys.  Money to support this program is raised entirely from donations by people and businesses.  Without those donations, the program would cease to exist.  In a typical season, the Police Department serves between 60-80 familes, and delivers wrapped gifts to their houses a couple days before Christmas.  Retired Police Chief Dennis Derr ran this program for many years up until 2014 when he retired, and donated countless hours each November and December by shopping for presents, organizing family wish lists, and wrapping those presents.  A special thanks also goes out to those people who volunteer their time to help the Chief in wrapping presents... and those who donate money to the Christmas fund.  The program will continue to be operated by members of the Police Department every year.  If you would like to add your young children to the list, or you know of a family in need this Christmas, please contact the Watsontown Police Department at 570-538-2773.  And for those people who can afford it, please remember to donate money to the Christmas program fund.  Even a few dollars makes a difference in a child getting a present under the Christmas tree this year!!  White Deer Valley Baptist Church is accepting donations and will deliver them to the police department.
